A light filled extension with bespoke American White Oak kitchen and family dining space.
Earlbank Avenue is situated within a conservation area, constructed in an era of sandstone and stained glass, the street has been noted by the city and preserved where possible. To the rear, a sense of rhythm flows along the numerous family rooms, kitchens and dining spaces which express a more lively character.
Our objective was to refurbish and extend appropriately, while maintaining a sense of this rhythm. Taking reference from the position of the existing scullery and gable walls, the extension was pushed and pulled to provide new spaces while acknowledging the neighbouring buildings.
A Riven Slate floor within the kitchen continues out into the garden, extending perceptions of space and forming a connection between the internal rooms and the greenery beyond.
The extension allowed a generous family Dining Room to evolve in the former kitchen space and a wood burning stove installed. A large aperture was formed to open up to the new kitchen space and garden beyond.
The exterior is finished in a grey silicone render, Quartz Zinc roof and Nordic Pine sliding door and window.
